Milk Bag Project |
|
It started with a newspaper article. One lady read about how some other ladies were cutting up the printed outer milk bags and crocheting them into sleeping mats for homeless children in Haiti. She experimented on her own for a while and then perfected the technique. Then, some of her friends wanted to join in. Now this project has grown and has been featured on CBC television! [Aired on “Living in Toronto” on CBC Toronto on Wednesday, February 4th, 2009.] Apparently, the material used in the outer milk bags resists mildew and bugs, making them an excellent material to Another bonus is that the mats are very lightweight The group we are sending our mats to is Northwest |

Craft Circle:Since ‘many hands make light work’, we’ve started a craft circle to work on the mats together. Join us every other Thursday (see calendar for dates) from 1:00-3:30 pm to work on the mats as a group! Those interested in learning how to make the mats are welcome to join us. If you are interested but are not available at these times, contact our office. For more information, contact our office at 905-335-5808 or info@nbbc.ca. |
